What should you do to make your perfume last longer?
We asked the experts the "secrets" to making our perfume last longer so we can smell all day long.
Let's be honest, it's a great feeling to have someone tell you that you smell good. However, unless you… bathe in your perfume, in most cases after a few hours the smell is nothing more than a hazy memory. There is a solution; Exists! We found some simple tips & tricks that you can apply to make your fragrance last longer.
How to make your perfume last longer?
1. Apply perfume after showering.
According to experts, the best time to spray perfume on your skin is right after showering as the moisture helps it to set. This means your fragrance will last longer and you'll smell great all day.
2. Apply moisturizer before perfume.
If you want your scent to last longer, give it something to make it stick. Moisturizer or body oil makes a great base for perfume in much the same way that primer makes a great base for foundation.
3. Use care products from the same line as your perfume.
If you think about it, it's obvious. If you use shower gel and body cream from the same range as your perfume, the smell will last longer. If you don't have the set, then an effective trick is to apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to the place where the perfume will be applied and then spray. This will ensure a base that will help your fragrance last throughout the day.
4. Put your perfume on the pulse points.
At the elbow joint, on the inside above the wrists, on the left and right of your neck and on the back of your knees are the ideal places to put perfume as it reacts with the natural fluctuations in body temperature resulting in the perfume "coming alive" ” during the day.
5. Don't rub it.
Put a few drops or spray perfume on the wrists and then lightly press the wrists together. In the places where you can't do it like that, just spray the perfume or put a drop without rubbing it, since this movement breaks up its aromatic notes and the smell disappears faster.
6. Prefer Eau de Parfum or Parfume perfumes.
The criterion for this categorization of perfumes is the concentration percentage of the concentrated perfume oil in relation to the perfume's alcohol content. This ratio is particularly important as it determines other characteristics of the fragrance that we are interested in such as its intensity, duration and trail.
In Eau de Parfum (or EdP), the concentration of aromatic concentrate is between 12-18% and has a satisfactory duration on the skin (usually 3-5 hours), while Parfum is the most concentrated form of an aromatic composition, with a concentration between 20 -40% fragrance in 80-60% alcohol and it will hug you all day, that's why it's an investment you won't regret for a minute.
And a piece of good news?
You may not smell your perfume, but everyone else does! This happens because the particular perfume "binds" perfectly with the ph of your skin or because your nose is used to the perfume you wear, so logically you don't smell it until the moment you wear it, while the rest enjoy the subtle smell you leave behind behind you when you pass.
